About ... me and stuff

My name is Jeroen Goulooze - also known as YuriGoul - I am Dutch, I live in Berlin and I am an artist ('Hello Jeroen'). I am using this website as a place to show my art + less commercial designs and publish stuff on a regular basis. A lot of these art works will be published in projects. You could say these projects are simply works that are thematically connected to one another but in some cases I intend to be a bit more than that.

The project called Evolution could for instance develop itself into a picture book. The projects called People 'n Poses and Textures are a show cast for the photos I make with the intent to use them for other artworks. In Ruines and Death some pictures are gathered connected to some ongoing projects: photographing the Berlin cemeteries before they are renovated and photographing ruins (houses and factories). I have an interest in such places for over 20 years now. My biggest project is of course the New Saints project. I will discuss this in a separate chapter, but for now it suffices to say that I am not religious (3th or 4th generation atheist here) but can not deny the fact that in my opinion Saints are a part of our culture and at the same time I have the feeling that more people are saints than the ones who achieved saint-hood as a result of some bureaucratic process invented by the catholic church. They might be living among us today, they might even be the people who make us feel uncomfortable when they are standing at the corners of the streets with a beer in their hand, smelling bad and cursing at us while we pass by. This idea of saint-hood is more akin to the way some religions see their gods: as adultering trouble makers who influence the lives of the people who live on this planet because they think it is funny. But they sadly they are the only ones who think so. The humans themselves certainly do not laugh at their jokes.
